Hi There, I tried to create a mapfile for a 2-D piecewise map, when I click ok to create the system I encountered an error statement "Equations are in the wrong order, compared to the coordinates", Attached is the image of the map definition and error. Then a new map-file in the Systems-folder is generated and you can insert. The best thing to do would be to define a dummy system with the correct names for the variables and parameters, with just numerical derivatives.

The software tries to find 1 but gets two, so that is another problem. Second, with the if-else-statement you provide two rules for the new state. Our software assumes a nice continuous map, and the switch will cause problems. Does Matcont have any documentation on its implementation, outside of its source code? Many thanks in advance.ĭear Hammed, First of all, switch off symbolic derivatives. My primary source is Nayfeh's "Applied Nonlinear Dynamics", but I am having difficulties with understanding how continuations for periodic orbits are computed and thus used for continuation. I am particularly curious about the numerical continuation algorithm, and am trying to study its implementation.

May I mention there is a folder with documentation on Sourceforge? If you look for the specifics of the continuation of periodic orbits then have a look at this () with the free preprint Best regards, Hil From: S Hayashi Sent: Thursday, Decem3:47 AM To: Subject: Understanding the continuation algorithm. it is showing on screen that error matcont (screenshot is attached). To initialize the homoclinic orbit from a BT point, I have taken the following: (1) Stater window: ntst = 80, ncol = 4, amplititudde=0.0001, TTolerence =1e-05, Selected eps0, eps1 (not selected T) (2) Continuer window: InitStepsize=1e-05, MinStepsize=1e-05, MaxStepsize=0.001, MaxCorrIters=3, MaxNewtonIters=10, MaxTestIters=10, VarTestIters=1e-06.ĭear Ram, This is a known issue of the old GUI in combination with newer versions of Matlab. I am trying for plotting a homoclinic bifurcation curve in a two parameter bifurcation diagram for a 2D ode system.
